About the Event
Join your colleagues from the San Diego County Bar Association and Association for Corporate Counsel—San Diego for a fabulous evening of music, networking and fun at the 3rd Annual Bar Night at the Opera. Suggested attire is either business or cocktail, so feel free to get all dressed up!
Backstage Tours
6:00pm
The evening begins with a very special “behind-the-scenes” look at San Diego Opera’s production of La bohème. Tours will depart promptly at 6:05 pm, 6:10 pm, 6:15 pm and 6:20 pm by the check-in table in the Civic Theatre lobby. Each tour lasts approximately 15 minutes in length and will return you directly to the party in the Beverly Sills Salon. To participate, please check-in early and listen for the gong which will signal the start of your VIP night.
Pre-Opera Party
6:30 – 7:30pm
Please join us in the Beverly Sills Salon for a private Pre-Opera party. You’ll enjoy a Parisian inspired menu of light hors d’oeuvres, dainty desserts, wine, beer, soft drinks & bottled water while you mix and mingle with friends before the opera.
Puccini's La bohème
8:00pm
One of the most popular operas ever written, La bohème will touch your soul with its achingly beautiful music as it tells the story of two vibrant young lovers who find it unbearable to be apart, yet impossible to be together. Sung in Italian with English Supertitles translated above the stage.

La bohème
One of the most popular operas ever written, La bohème will deeply touch your soul – tapping your memories of love and unleashing your passions with its achingly beautiful music. Two young, poor “bohemians”, a poet and a seamstress, discover a love so intense that they find it unbearable to be apart, yet impossible to be together. Set in the vivid, boisterous world of Paris’ 19th century Latin Quarter, this simple yet passionate story follows their tender love.
Two of opera’s greatest new talents team up for one of the most elegant pairings ever seen in this opera – Anja Harteros, who dazzled us all with her first La traviata here in San Diego, and Piotr Beczala, one of the most sought after young tenors in the opera world. Joining them as the vivacious Musetta is San Diego’s own incandescent Priti Gandhi.
The running time is approximately 2 hours, 37 minutes including two 20-minute intermissions.
