American Director Garnett Bruce returns after directing Aida in 2008 and Vanessa in 2005, among other productions. He has been responsible for Francesca Zambello's production of Madama Butterfly since 1998, including productions in Dallas, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Houston and previously at San Diego Opera. Last season, he remounted La traviata and Doctor Atomic at Lyric Opera of Chicago, and this year staged his first Otello in Louisville, and La Cenerentola for Orlando and Austin, which was televised by KLRU throughout Texas. Other recent productions include La Clemensa di Tito for Wolf Trap, Tosca for Houston and Denver, La bohème for Dallas and Kansas City, Turandot for Chicago, Cleveland and Louisville, and Jenufa at Dallas and San Francisco. He serves on the faculty at Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and Aspen Music Festival and School and is Artistic Adviser and principal stage director for Opera Omaha.
