San Diego Opera debut. Mexican baritone Octavio Moreno is an alumnus of Houston Grand Opera Studio and appeared there as Sourin in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Belcore in Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, a Noble in Wagner’s Lohengrin, Marullo in Verdi’s Rigoletto and in 2009 was a soloist in Chorus. Moreno studied voice with Jesus Li and Maybel Ferrales at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia. He won third place in the 2008 Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers and represented Mexico in the 2009 BBC Cardiff Singer of the World Competition and the 2010 Paris International competition, as well as third place in the Carlo Morelli Competition in Mexico City. He made his Bellas Artes Debut in Mexico City in La fille du regiment and appeared as Laurentino in the world premiere of Cruzar la Cara de la Luna as Laurentino in Houston, a role he reprised in Paris at the Théâtre du Châtelet.
El barítono mexicano Octavio Moreno hace su debut con la Ópera de San Diego. Es ex-alumno del estudio de la Houston Grand Opera, donde apareció en el rol de Sourin in La Reina de Espadas de Tchaikovsky. También representó a Belcore en El Elixir del Amor de Donizetti, a un noble en Lohengrin de Wagner, a Marullo en Rigoletto de Verdi y fue solista en Chorus. El Sr. Moreno estudió canto con Jesus Li y Marybel Ferrales en la Academia de Artes Vocales (AVA) en Philadelphia. Ganó el tercer premio en el concurso Eleanor McCollum para cantantes jóvenes en el 2008, representó a México en el campeonato mundial de canto Cardiff de la BBC en el 2009 y en el Concurso internacional de Canto de Paris en el 2010, así como tercer lugar en el concurso Carlo Morelli en la Ciudad de México. Hizo su debut en Bellas Artes en la Ciudad de México en La Hija del Regimiento, y estrenó el rol de Laurentino en la premiere mundial de la ópera Cruzar la Cara de la Luna en Houston, rol que representó posteriormente en el Théâtre du Châtelet de París.
