$50,000 Audience Challenge

I’m thrilled to announce that last year’s anonymous “Audience Challenge” donor has stepped forward once again with the promise of a remarkable $50,000 gift if it is matched by you, our generous audience members. This is a tremendous opportunity to help San Diego Opera meet expenses of more than $14.5 million this year.

Only half of our budget is funded by the purchase of your tickets and the other half must come from contributions to cover the fees of our world famous singers, sets, chorus, orchestra, costumes, theater rent, etc. In this truly challenging economic environment, San Diego Opera has lost many longtime reliable donors and grants. Only new and additional funding can ensure the quality of opera in San Diego that you have come to expect and enjoy, while maintaining our consecutive 24 year record of balanced budgets.

Any amount is gratefully welcomed and will help us reach the $50,000 goal. All donors will be listed on a special insert in the La traviata program! But, if you send in $100 or more by March 21st, you will be invited to a special Thank You Recital on March 22nd at the Neurosciences Institute with the stars from the San Diego Opera Chorus singing your favorite arias and ensembles.
