What can opera education do for a student? Watch this video to see how arts education and attending the opera has transformed the lives of people in our community. This video was made to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Audrey Geisel’s remarkable sponsorship, which created the Geisel Director of Education. It was first shown at the Opera’s 2012 Opening Night Gala.

Students from around the county, many of whom have little to no experience with arts and culture, are desperate for an opportunity to attend San Diego Opera performances.

You can give them this new and valued experience by supporting the Student Ticket Initiative.  During the 2012 Season, this program directly provided over 1,300 tickets for local university and community college students. Our goal for the 2013 Season is to raise $200,000 in order to greatly increase the availability of student tickets and help meet the huge demand from students that has grown dramatically since the program began in 2002.

BENEFITS AND RECOGNITION OF PARTICIPATION

For those giving a gift of $150 or more:

• You will receive a complimentary invitation for two to attend a wonderful evening of fashion and food generously hosted by Neiman Marcus and Riviera Magazine.  This event will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 and invitations will be mailed one month prior to the event.


• $150 – $499 donors will receive a complimentary invitation for two*


• $500 – $4,999 donors will receive a complimentary invitation for four*


• $5,000+ donors will receive a complimentary invitation for ten*
• Your name will appear on the 2013 Student Ticket Initiative Challenge page in a performance program during San Diego Opera’s 2013 International Season.
