One of the most unique and amazing aspects of opera is that the music is not
amplified. The orchestra is not electronically enhanced and the singers do
not use microphones. Because of this, audience noise is easily heard and can
disrupt enjoyment of the opera.
So, for the enjoyment of the entire audience, San Diego Opera asks your
cooperation with the following policies:
- THERE IS NO LATE SEATING! Late-comers will be seated at the
first intermission.
- If you leave the performance, you will NOT be allowed back in the
theatre until the next intermission.
- Please TURN OFF cell phones, watches and other electronic
equipment (or set ringer to vibrate). Please do not text message during the
performance.
- Please unwrap throat lozenges/candy before the opera begins!
- The Civic Theatre will not page patrons. If someone might need to contact you,
please make sure they know your exact seat location. A message phoned to the
House Manager at (619) 615-4125 will be relayed to you at an appropriate break
in the program.
- Please do not bring children under the age of six to any opera performance.

Please also be aware that taking photos, videos, audio recordings or any
other electronic copying of a performance is prohibited.
